Weekly Meetings

Meetings. When over utilized in business, they can be overwhelming and tedious. But when used strategically, meetings are an essential way to ensure alignment within a group and to make decisions together. Families are in the same boat — there are things that need to be accomplished and logistics that should be addressed regularly to ensure that all bases are covered.

This is where the weekly meeting comes in. Taking just a few minutes each week to meet as a family and talk through logistics for the upcoming week, any special needs that should be addressed, meals, etc. can be a game changer in many ways. Here are just a few:

  • Allows for one conversation to address the big needs for the week rather than having to address daily.

  • Eliminates “fire drills” due to lack of communication or last minute requests.

  • Can be a bonding activity, as all members of the family have a voice.

Family meetings don’t have to be time consuming or overly planned. Spending an extra 10 minutes at the table after dinner on a Sunday night can work wonders for your routine the upcoming week. You can even give your meeting a silly name to add a little levity.
